Baltimore Priest Pleads Guilty To Sex Abuse

The following four stories come via YH, who as usual steps up to the plate just when I'm most in need of help...

(WJZ) TOWSON, Md. - A former Catholic priest pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually abusing a Baltimore County high school student in 1987.

Jerome Toohey Junior faces up to 15 years in prison for abusing Thomas Roberts, who is now a prominent CNN anchor, when Toohey was a priest and chaplain at Calvert Hall College High School in Towson.

Roberts tells Eyewitness News' Dennis Edwards "I think it will be a real injustice, a further injustice, to allow what he did to me to continue to take stuff away."

Father Toohey admits to sexually abusing Roberts from the age of 14 through his graduation. He was removed from the ministry in 1993 after a second victim surfaced from John Carroll High School.

Toohey is scheduled to be sentenced in February. In a statement to Eyewitness News the Archdiocese says the Vatican will decide whether he will be defrocked.
