Jailer, mom charged with drug possession
San Antonio, Texas - A Bexar County sheriff's detention officer, his mother and a friend were in custody at Bexar County Jail on Monday night, charged with drug possession, authorities said.
The officer, Joseph Canales, 32, and his mother, Maria, were held on separate $50,000 bonds. They were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, authorities said.
An associate, Amador Naranjo, 65, was held on $15,000 bond, charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Undercover officers requested a search warrant of a residence in the 1400 block of West Malone after they were tipped off that drugs were at the location.
Officers arrested Canales and his mother without incident.
According to a search warrant, police found more than 10 grams, or more than a third of an ounce, of cocaine and drug supplies.
Naranjo was arrested later in the morning after officers and a K-9 unit found drugs in his car.
